Konpa on Kanvas

Artist Statement

Background

Emmanuel Ronald Bertrand is a Haitian artist living in Atlanta, Georgia. He paints vibrant scenes of figurative art, abstract, and portrait. He is inspired by the fascinating daily lives of Haitian children, musicians, and artists. Their joy, resilience, determination, achievement, and vulnerability amid life’s chaos are admirable.

Values

In this age of technology and consumerism, the simple pleasure of curiosity has dissipated.  Ronald wants his paintings to convey joy and the desire to be alive. Hence, the revolutionizing of contemplative art for thoughtful consumption.

My Vision

Konpa on Kanvas is a body of work made to honor Haitian musicians. Their talents have influenced the world and elevated Haitian culture. This artistic initiative is a way to invite audiences to find a similar passion in the way I do by collecting these musicians' portraits to keep them alive in homes. The series will create a fan base for their honorary contributions to our lives.

Konpa on Kanvas is an unsolicited commission that evolves into a collaboration between two artists, the painter and the musician. Each is a limited print edition. When sold, part of the earnings goes directly to the musician. It is intended to create an ecosystem where all parties, the musician, the painter, and YOU, the art collector will benefit. Especially with the added value of an autograph from the musician.

Since the completion of the painting below, I have raised fund to support the Mikaben Foundation, “Ti Souf,” from print sale proceeds.

These six paintings are available to adorn your music room or entertainment area $50 per print, signed seal numbered under a 16x20 inch acid-free matte. The ERB logo will not appear on the print. The embellished giclee is the same as the original size and is available upon special order. Please use the Email List signup to request an embellished giclee.
