My process

Ronald spends countless hours perfecting his craft with some renowned artist. He applies fine art techniques to capture the likeness of his model.

From life

The model poses live in Ronald’s studio or at a location designated by the model. A few sketches are developed using charcoal to create reference of proportion, a sense of scale and more importantly find that unique trait.

From Photograph.

Ronald photographs his model on site or can also work from reference of your photographs, this makes great surprise gift.

The medium

Ronald explores all medium with a very high level of confidence.

Oil paint is my favorite mediums. Colors can be blended because the oils dry slowly. It is controllable and can be applied in transparent or opaque depending the subject matter or the substrates. Ronald paints on stretched canvas, on wood panel or archival oil paper

Watercolor is a fun medium. That is very unpredictable. The wonderful accidents that happen with the flow of colors cannot be achieved by another medium. The water will continue to dilute even when the paint dries. Ronald paint on durable watercolor paper

Pastel is another fun medium to work with. Unlike the process of painting, the colors are mixed directly on the paper, rather than on the palette. Therefore, blending is so important! When handled correctly, pastels are permanent and can last just as long as any other medium. Pastels never crack, yellow, or darken over time. Ronald draws with on brown paper or durable toned pastel paper.

Charcoal Vine charcoal and compressed sticks like a pencil in your hand than a drawing pencil. It will vary from artist to artist, but my suggestion is to hold the charcoal with your thumb and forefinger with your palm facing the surface of the paper. Ronald draws with charcoal on white or gray-toned drawing paper.
